Vespers and Indulgence for 2020

On December 31 at 6 PM, His Grace Archbishop Miller will preside over first Vespers of the Solemnity of Mary Mother of God. This Vespers are the last ones celebrated on the year 2020. At the end of Vespers we will sing the ‘Te Deum’, a Hymn of thanksgiving of the Church. When the ‘Te Deum’ is sung on December 31 there is a plenary indulgence for those who fulfil the usual conditions. We invite you to join the Archbishop as we give thanks for the year 2020 and as we prepare for a new year.

Enchiridion Indulgentiarum 26:

§ 1. A plenary indulgence is granted to the Christian faithful who, in a church or in an oratory, are present take part in a
recitation or solemn chant of:

1° the hymn Veni Creator … on the first day of the year, imploring divine assistance for the whole of the coming year…

2° the Te Deum hymn, on the last day of the year, in thanksgiving to God for the favors received in the course of the entire year.
